Braschi reads The Waste Land

Directed by Williams Cole, Giannina Braschi reads the scene “Madame Sosostris, famous clairvoyante” from The Waste Land by T.S. Eliot in this short-short film that was commissioned by The Adrian Brinkerhoff Poetry Foundation (a literary nonprofit bringing you great poetry from across places, eras, and traditions) and produced by the Academy of American Poets in 2024.

Directed by Williams Cole, Giannina Braschi reads Yo he sido adivina /I have been a fortune-teller from Imperio de los Sueños /Empire of Dreams. Commissioned by The Adrian Brinkerhoff Poetry Foundation and produced by the Academy of American Poets in 2024.

Putinas of Putin from Putinoika

Enjoy these videos of poetry readings by Giannina Braschi, author of the new tragicomedy PUTINOIKA. Braschi reads a scene from the Bacchae in PUTINOIKA, entitled “Putinas of Putin”. Putinoika is multi-genre epic exploring the frenzy and plague in the era of Putin and Trump. The event took place in September 2023 as part of the program “Daughters of Latin America: An Anthology Reading” at the Christopher Lightfoot Walker Reading Series at The 92nd Street Y. Hosted by Rosie Perez at the Unterberg Poetry Center.

Putinoika Launch

The contemporary design collective Roi du Lac transformed the boutique Above Chinatown in NYC into a pop-up installation, unveiling their Putinoika Collection featuring blouses, scarves, and trays based on Giannina Braschi’s new book PUTINOIKA. There was a live performance by choreographer Shoko Tamai, founder of Ninja Ballet.
