The contemporary design collective Roi du Lac will transform a vintage boutique in Chinatown into a whimsical pop-up installation, unveiling the Putinoika Collection, featuring blouses, scarves, and trays based on Braschi’s characters: the Muses of Bacchus, Putin’s Putinas, and the Rites of the Dancing Maenads in a mystical and magical space. There will also be a live performance by choreographer Shoko Tamai, founder of the Ninja Ballet.
Giannina Braschi’s iconic writings have long inspired poets, artists, writers, designers, composers, cartoonists, photographers, and theorists across diverse disciplines, genres, and countries. Roi du Lac’s Putinoika Collection marks the first haute couture application of Braschi’s radical texts and the first adaptation of her new work, Putinoika.
